LA MARTRE

Photo Château Rima

Former castle of La Martre, property of the bishopric, it dominates a vast green plain. A large part of the local production is at your feet: fields of vegetables, cereals and potatoes.

Originally, the village of La Martre was a medieval castrum built on top of the hill. The castrum was destroyed during the wars of religion in the 16th century, and the new Lord Vincent-Anne de Forbin in the 17th century had the new village and the castle rebuilt on the plain.
The castle was destroyed by a fire, and since then it has been called Château Rima, which in Provençal means "burnt castle".

Today it is a private domain of the Eucharistein fraternity where religious and guests work together in the domains of agriculture and crafts.
