The Mercy Hospital was reserved for the destitute, poor artisans and members of the Brotherhood of the Grey Penitents (Order of St. Francis), property of the community of Aups since August 26, 1647. The hospital was then transformed into an oil mill (at the beginning of the 19th century) and then into a café.
