Medieval castle

The medieval castle of Trigance proudly dominates the village. It is camped on a rocky spur of triangular form, detached in advance of the clear cliff which overhangs the village.

It is said to have been built in the 10th century by the Monks of the Abbey of Saint-Victor of Marseille and has been extensively modified over the centuries. Vaulted rooms and a cistern were built there in the 14th and 15th centuries. Destroyed during the revolution, it has long served as a stone quarry for the inhabitants of the village. Restored during the 1960s and 1970s, this fortress was transformed into a hotel-restaurant that welcomes its guests in a beautifully restored medieval setting.
It is a proud quadrangular enclosure with beautiful white stone walls and four round towers.
